CHISEL is a housing association based in south-east London, Brighton and Colchester.
We own and manage 250 homes, of which 70 which were built by their residents – and of a unique timber-frame design, inspired directly by Walter Segal.
The rest of our homes are in converted houses or were custom-built, and are largely in neighbourhoods in Brockley, Catford, Deptford and Woolwich.
Founded in 1987 to support and facilitate co-operative housing (CHISEL originally stood for Co-operative Housing in South-East London) we have gradually become both landlord and manager of most of the homes that we own.
We’re still proud to be working with Flamenco, Dryads and Three Boroughs Housing Co-operatives who manage some of the communities in our portfolio. We’re also looking at a revamped Resident Engagement strategy to ensure all our residents voices are heard.
CHISEL is still growing, and we are exploring a number of partnership opportunities to deliver supported housing to groups of people who are excluded from housing or homeless.
As a Registered Housing Provider, CHISEL is regulated by the Regulator for Social Housing and the Financial Conduct Authority.
