The CHISEL archive: Walter Segal

Born on 15th May 1907 in Berlin, Germany, Walter Segal became one of the most influential architects of his time. His name became synonymous with timber framed housing that was designed to be affordable, quick to assemble and fit in with its surroundings. The Segal Method paved the way for developments such as The Diggers in Brighton - giving ordinary people the opportunity to build their own home.
